Psalm 2:11-12 (KJV)
Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Give Honor to Jesus.
Kiss of submission
Kiss of adoration & religious worship (Ps. 45:1)
Kiss of affection & sincere love (Luke 7:38)
Kiss of agreement & reconciliation
Kiss of allegiance & loyalty (1 Sam. 10:1)
Kiss of worship
Kiss of friendship
Kiss of obedience
Matthew Henry:
To welcome Jesus Christ and to submit to him, Ps. 2:12. This is the great duty of the Christian religion; it is that which is required of all, even kings and judges, and it is our wisdom and interest to do it.
“Kiss the Son; enter into a covenant of friendship with him, and let him be very dear and precious to you; love him above all, love him in sincerity, love him much, as she did to whom much was forgiven, and, in token of it, kissed his feet,” Luke 7:38. (4.) With a kiss of allegiance and loyalty, as Samuel kissed Saul, 1 Sam. 10:1. Swear fealty and homage to him, submit to his government, take his yoke upon you, and give up yourselves to be governed by his laws, disposed of by his providence, and entirely devoted to his interest.
Christ is the way; take heed lest you be cut off from him as your way to God. It intimates that they were, or at least thought themselves, in the way; but, by neglecting Christ, they perished from it, which aggravates their ruin, that they go to hell from the way to heaven, are not far from the kingdom of God and yet never arrive there.
Swear fealty & homage (obligation to be faithful) to him, submit to his government, take His yoke upon you, & give yourself to be governed by his laws, & entirely devoted to His interest.
It is certain ruin we run upon if we refuse & reject Christ. His The Son; for it is at your peril if you do not. (Ps. 1:6) Lest your way perish. Christ is the only way. Yield to Christ. Those that trust in Him & so Kiss Him are truly happy. Blessed are those who trust i Him.
Philippians 2:12 Amplified Bible (AMP)
12 So then, my dear ones, just as you have always obeyed [my instructions with enthusiasm], not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation [that is, cultivate it, bring it to full effect, actively pursue spiritual maturity] with awe-inspired fear and trembling [using serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit The Name of Christ].
Kiss of Faith. Faith is vital. By Kissing Christ we fetch life from Him. The just shall live by faith. (Hab. 2:4, Rom. 1:17, Gal. 3:11, Heb. 10:38)
Kiss The Son: Pay homage to Him. Respect, reverence, public acknowledgment of Him, loyalty, adoration, awe, submission, & so much more.
Blessed are all who take refuge in Him. Those who wish to know God must come to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. Those who do not Kiss, or honor The Son of God shanty condemned by God. (John 3:18)
Kissing demonstrates the subject’s reverence towards the master.
Why? Someday every one will submit to Him.
Philippians 2:10 Amplified Bible (AMP)
So that at the name of Jesus [a]every knee shall bow [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth…
He died for YOU!
Romans 5:5-7 King James Version (KJV)
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
Romans 3:23-25 King James Version (KJV)
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
John 10:9-11 King James Version (KJV)
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
John 14:6 King James Version (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 3:16 King James Version (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Matthew 11:29-30 King James Version (KJV)
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
He took upon Himself your sin and is giving you eternal life. He said His yoke is easy, take it upon yourself. Surrender to Him today. Today is the day of salvation. Now is the acceptable time. (2 Corinthians 6:2)
